Stress Therapies
Aromatherapy: A Tool For Stress Management
Aromatherapy found its origin in China. It
believes in the healing properties of plants from which aromatic oils
are extracted and used to cure various ailments. The vapors of these
oils are inhaled and thus carried forward to the brain and nervous
system which then regulate the release of various hormones and emotions.
Specific aromas are used to treat stress. These can be massaged
in to the skin. Apart from this, there are various ways to administer
aromatherapy:
A) A few drops of the aromatherapy oil can be added
in the hot bath tub. This would relax your muscles as well as your mind.
B) Sprinkle
a few drops on a cotton ball and put it on a vaporizing ring or a hot
radiator.
C) Pour a few drops on your handkerchief or pillow, or in a
bowl of hot water and just inhale.
Bergamot, chamomile, clary
sage, cypress, frankincense, geranium, juniper, lavender, melissa or
lemon balm oil and sandalwood are some of the popular oils used for
relaxation and calming. However, if you are pregnant, you need to
consult your doctor before you go in for any of the above mentioned.
