A Diet To Reduce Stress & Boost Energy

In the present day world, there is a lot more stress than there was a few centuries ago. The reasons are  competition, materialism, a mad rat race for money and power. These combine to  increase the levels of stress. In order to combat stress we need to eat right and combat fatigue. Increasing energy levels helps to combat stress.

Proper diet will prove helpful in reducing  hunger pangs. The tendency to overeat will go away.  As per medical statistics, a person feels tired with stress. The person also overeats due to stress. Usually the diet that reduces stress should contain seventy to eighty percent of raw food. The diet should consist of fresh fruit and vegetables. Both these foods are valuable suppliers of minerals and vitamins. Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins B & C.  Raw foods also contain flavonoids which have a lot of useful medicinal properties. Flavonoids help in combating stress.

Carbohydrates are an essential substance to decrease stress levels. Research proves  that foods rich in complex carbohydrates have a calming effect on the brain. Carbohydrates increase the level of the hormone serotonin. Serotonin has a calming and relaxing effect on the mind. Foods with complex carbohydrates provide fiber which gives us a full and satiated feeling. Examples of foods with complex carbohydrates are bananas, brown rice and sweet potatoes.

Antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables increase the immunity level in the body. Alfalfa, garlic and ginger are best for your immune system. The other foods that reduce stress are kelp, Kombu and water cress. These foods are good for the thyroid gland.

To prevent dehydration, drink lots of water. Have a regular diet. Have a hearty breakfast. Reduce the intake of alcohol and beverages rich in caffeine. A healthy diet restores the natural balance in the system and makes us feel better. This boosts energy and reduces stress levels.
