In the present competitive world, it is becoming increasingly difficult to cope up with stress. In our effort to prove ourselves, we sometimes become workaholics and drive ourselves very hard with little or no relaxation. We constantly drive ourselves and as a result come under an increasing load of stress.

Stress at some or the other level is necessary and essential as it helps us to reach our goals. When stress becomes overpowering and when we find it difficult to cope with it, then we need to manage stress.

The following are certain useful tips that can help us to cope with stress and its attendant problems.

You can avoid long drives to reach the office. You could take the subway or share your car with an associate instead.

Always divide your goals into smaller targets. You will be able to achieve smaller targets in your endeavor to achieve the big targets. This will give you a sense of accomplishment and help you to stay focused on your major goals.

Manage your time well. Stress occurs because you have so much to do and very little time. Try to reduce the length of your breaks to the minimum time possible. Avoid talking too much to your friends and colleagues, as this will waste your time.

If you feel stressed, take deep breaths and try to concentrate on your work.  There are a number of relaxation techniques and deep breathing exercises that can help to refresh you and cope with stress.

Always take out some time to perform yogic exercises and transcendental meditation before leaving for work. Yoga helps to keep you physically and mentally fit. It also helps you to cope with stress.

Try some exercises to keep your body and mind fit. This will also help you in concentrating on some other activities to divert your mind from work. Yoga would be the better option for those who are suffering from stress.

Never mix your professional life with your personal life as it can create problems for you and your family. Try to reach an optimum balance between the two.  Try not to bring your work home. You should also not take your domestic problems to office.

You may be under stress because of a lack of job satisfaction. If you enjoy the work that you do, then job satisfaction goes a long way in helping you to cope with stress

Make sure you eat in a relaxed manner and not on the go. Forget all the problems and pressures of work when its time to eat.

Try to play some soft jazz or instrumental music when you are working. Music soothes the soul and helps to put you in a relaxed frame of mind.

You should plan out your long term and short-term activities in a clear manner. Keep your feet firmly on the ground and your head optimistically in the air.

Believe in your self and think positively.
