Reflexology To Help You Manage Stress |
|
|
|
The history of Reflexology lies in Ancient
Egypt, China and India. It was in 1913 that Dr. William Fitzgerald
introduced this therapy to the west as 'zone therapy'. It works on the
principle that tension in any pressure point of the foot or hand is a
symptom of congestion or tension in the corresponding part of the body.
Reflexology believes that applying pressure to certain reflex
points on the feet can smoothen the flow of blood to provide relief. It
promotes a sense of satisfaction and well-being, hence reducing anxiety
and stress.
It is suitable for people of all ages and can cure
acute cases of stress. Generally, after completion of a particular
course, patients go for a regular therapy thereby cutting the day-to-day
stress. It has no side effects and therefore is one of the most
preferred methods adopted by patients to manage stress.
