Does Your Workplace Stink Of Stress |
|
|
|
In the USA, 25 % of employees view their jobs as
the number one stressor in their lives. And another 75 % of employees
believe the worker today has more on-the-job stress than what the
worker had a generation ago.
Workplace
stress or job stress is a state of harmful physical and emotional
responses. It occurs when the requirements of the job do not match
the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker. Too much job
stress can lead to poor health and even mental disturbance.
Today's
work environment requires you to overcome stress and work efficiently
in the competitive ambiance.
Now, the big question is that
what are the reasons of job stress?
A) Employees' capabilities
versus working conditions is the primary cause of job stress.
B) Differences in individual characteristics such as
personality and coping style also play a major role.
C) Certain working conditions, such as those in coal mines,
are stressful to most people.
D) Excessive workload demands and conflicting expectations put
the employee in a stressful condition.
One has to pay due
attention to work stress, before it turns into a monster. What can be
done?
Apart from the medicinal path the following ways can help you
out:
Stop being the manager of the world: Leave the habit
of taking all the work to be done onto yourself. You alone cannot
manage the whole workload. Understand this fact, thoroughly.
Delegate & distribute the workload: Colleagues
are there to share work. Learn to delegate responsibilities and share
your workload with them.
Don't let work over take you:
Everybody works in life but don't let it get on your nerves. Don't be
preoccupied with it once you are out of your office.
Maintain a balance between your
professional and personal life: Create a balance between your
professional and personal life. Never allow the two to overlap.
Build a support network of friends and coworkers:
Build a support system of friends and co workers around you. These
can help you in times of distress and overwork.
Take up a relaxed and positive outlook: Do not fret.
A job brings along responsibilities but you do not need to panic.
Keep a positive outlook, stay calm and then handle the situation as
required.
Work stress if ignored can cause serious damage. A
timely heed can solve the problem as well as prevent it. When you
can't run away from it, it is better to learn ways to cope with it.
