Rest, Relax And Sleep To Manage Stress

'Rest, relax and sleep'- these are the golden words for anyone who wants to keep stress at bay. Let us take a look at how these three simple things can help you ward off stress successfully.

Rest
If you do not want stress to take over your body then adequate rest is must. Rest helps calm your body and aids in stress management. It gives you a fresh lease of life and allows you to think over your problems in a much better manner. Simply lie down and close your eyes. This will give your mind a break from the usual spree of activities.

Taking rest need not mean sleeping or lying down only. Indulging in slow paced activities could also provide you rest from the daily hustle bustle. Try to read a soft and simple novel, listen to soothing music or go for a stroll. The idea is to slow down the regular pace of your life.

Relax
Busy work schedules and hectic lifestyles tend to take a toll on our body. Thus, it is important that you relax and do things that you enjoy, to unwind. Adequate relaxation compensates for the stressful situations that we deal with on a daily basis. Indulge in your favorite hobbies such as cooking, playing any game, dancing or any other activity to get your daily dose of relaxation.

Vacations can be of great help if you want to relax. Try to go for a short vacation whenever possible. But, make sure that you use the vacation to relax and not complete your pending jobs. Split your vacation into two haves. Use the first half only to take rest and the other half doing all the things that you enjoy.

Sleep
At least 8 hours of sleep per day is a must if you want to keep stress at bay. Adequate sleep helps you rejuvenate and replenishes the lost energy. If you are not sleeping enough, you are bound to experience low concentration and energy levels.

Lack of sufficient sleep makes you dull and lethargic. As a result, your efficacy at work is bound to suffer. This will obviously add to your mounting stress. So, if you are already stressed, not sleeping will only add to woes. Thus, take some sleep even if you are baffled by a problem.

Sometimes, you may not be able to sleep because you are stressed. If this is the case with you, then try to do some mentally taxing work few hours prior to sleeping.

So, the next time you feel stressed or bogged down, you just need to count till three.
